Inspiration for Abstract Subjects:

Fascinated by the spirit revealed in all that surrounds us, Laurie finds her fine art subject matter in uncommon places. Inspired by old shipyards in Valdez, Alaska and aircraft graveyards in Tucson, Arizona ... she enjoys transforming discarded manmade constructs and revealing a new mysterious beauty created by the natural forces of air, light and sea.

Intuitively, Laurie creates painterly abstract compositions rich in color and texture which ask the viewer to explore and search beneath the tangible for the conceptual. It is this tension between a representational surface and an unidentifiable abstraction which creates a dialogue with the work that is both challenging and rewarding.
